Since being home and getting engaged, I feel like my life is full of LOTS of adult things – helping Jon set up his new house (complete with moving boxes, cleaning, fixing stuff), putting together LOTS of IKEA furniture…with success and without…, ironing, transporting Stella to the house, and just being an adult. CRAZY
Furniture. I had never been to IKEA before this week. And BOY was it exciting! I didn’t think I could ever love a furniture store so much! We went to IKEA to pick up some stuff for Jon’s new place – a beautiful little house the next town over from our hometown that he’s renting with Chris, a good friend of ours. Let me just say, IKEA IS HUGE. There are WAAAAYYYY too many choices there for someone as indecisive as me. After much deliberation Jon and I settled with all of the things we picked out as soon as we entered the store…shocking…a bed frame, two night stands, and a large dresser. We came home and decided to put the dresser together right away so we could start putting things away. What a mistake. While the dresser looks beautiful after the assembly, it took us a solid 3 ½ hours to put together the over ONE HUNDRED pieces that came in the box. Awesome.
Just a few of the billions of pieces…
My fiancé working hard ;-)
The next day, with Jon at work, I decided I was going to tackle the nightstands by myself. Oops. Apparently I’m not very good with schematic diagrams. The first one came out with painted pieces next to non-painted pieces, and the drawers assembled completely incorrectly. Double oops. BUT the SECOND ONE. Now that’s a nice piece of furniture ;-)
The bed frame came last and I let Jon put that one together all by himself :).
