Winter Cleaning and New Roommates

First off, I apologize for being so MIA for the last week and a half. With school getting into full swing, things have been a tad bit busy here! Although I must say that I LOVE the change of pace (as I was getting incredibly bored without it…) Anyhoo! The last few weeks have brought a lot of goings on. In addition to all the old volunteers leaving, we’ve had a new group of volunteers moving in – 12 to be exact – 4 from Germany, 3 from the US, 1 from Italy, 1 from Denmark, 1 from Austria, 1 from Guatemala, and 1 from Belgium…slightly more international than our group of 9 Americans and 2 Germans…

Anyhoo, in preparation for the 4 new volunteers that moved into our house, we had a MASSIVE house cleaning complete with: dusting, sweeping, mopping, organizing, and THROWING AWAY the HUNDREDS of expired, useless, and expired AND useless items that have been sitting in our house unused for YEARS. Needless to say it felt VERY good and productive :).

LOOK HOW CLEAN!

Our newly organized shoes :)

The day after our cleaning, our 4 new housemates moved in including…

Regine – my roommate from Germany who loves weddings almost as much as I do :)
Molly – a recent graduate and new English teacher from the states
Hannah – a very quiet but very sweet girl from Austria and…
Francesca – a quadlingual Italian who has travelled/lived all over the world

All in all, a pretty awesome group of new roommates :).

After our lovely winter cleaning we had a roommate dinner to welcome everyone to the house. Katie, Christina, and I made pizzas and delicious funfetti cake and enjoyed a wonderful night with some new friends.

Enjoying roommate bonding :)
